Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC) was established in 1955 as a non profit National Organization. IASLIC during the last fifty five years has made a remarkable contribution in its mission to promote Library and Information movement, to improve professional competencies, and to foster co-ordination in the field of Special Librarianship in India. The IASLIC holds seminars and conferences during alternate years on current problems of Libraries and Information Services and other allied areas are selected as themes for discussions on these occasions.
About Puducherry
Puducherry is a Union Territory along the Coromandel Coast known for its serene blue ocean, Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, the famous Tamil poets Shri. Subramania Bharathiar & Bharathidasan….. It is an old French settlement of two centuries ago located about 160 km from Chennai with the French Culture and heritage still prevalent in the locale. It indeed draws a lot of tourists from across the globe to enjoy the harmony and peace of the town. |

A Central University, established through an Act of Parliament in 1985, has just completed its 25th year of existence. The campus is spread over 780 acres of land with lush green tropical vegetation and its entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. It has emerged as India’s fastest expanding Central University crossing growth mark of 300% during the last four years and has about 6000 students now representing 33 states of the country and abroad, and over 400 highly qualified faculty from 22 states of the country.

Pondicherry University Library was established on 11th September 1986. The Central Library of Pondicherry University was named after Ananda Rangapillai, who was the Dubash of French Governor Dupleix. It has transformed into a Knowledge Resource Centre today facilitating learning and research. The infrastructure, collection and services have developed on par with any world class university all accessible through the library portal or with a remote login. RFID technology has also been implemented in the Library recently.
Value-added services with Institutional Repository of research output, citation analysis, article delivery service, access to digital resources through library portal or remote login, computing facility for the visually challenged are a few highlights of the library. The University Bookshop is another unique student support service to cater to their requirements of books, stationary and souvenirs.
